Tapestry edition

Ladislaus' - tapestry by Laurids Gallée

As part of the EAST to WEST exhibition, a limited edition woven tapestry was created, inspired by the narrative power of old tapestries from Hollenegg Castle in Liechtenstein. The image of the blue-flamed leopard falling from the sky stands for the unfortunate story of Count Ladislaus von Fraunberg, to whom life played havoc and who, as a consolation, had a leopard by his side as a companion.
The textile collector's item is produced in a limited edition on request according to the design of the Austrian product designer Laurids Gallée.

About Laurids Gallée

Laurids Gallée is an Austrian product designer. Since graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015, he has been working in a production workshop to deepen his understanding of manufacturing processes and develop skills in handling a wide variety of materials. In 2017, he founded his own design studio in Rotterdam. In his work, Gallée combines craftsmanship and a deep understanding of materials with a personal interest in drawing and illustration; his designs are often inspired by folkloric narratives and stories and are full of complex patterns and symbolic representations. Together with the use of modern machines and processes, the objects from Gallée's workshop represent a classic, contemporary amalgamation.

Studio Besau-Marguerre is an interdisciplinary design studio based in the heart of Hamburg. With a holistic design approach, Studio Besau-Marguerre works across the fields of product design, visual communication, styling and interior design. Founded in 2011 by Marcel Besau and Eva Marguerre, the duo now works with a team of interior designers, textile designers, graphic designers and product designers, on exciting projects from exhibition and product design to larger scale projects such as the furnishing of Hamburg’s concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie. With a keen sense for bold colours, experimental forms and unusual materials as well as a passionate attention to detail, Studio Besau-Marguerre designs individual concepts, that, due to the versatile expertise of the team, allow for holistic brand consulting and an integrated concept realization from a single source. Starting point of the creative work of every project is always the product itself. Here, the space as well as the project’s overriding perception is being thought of from the start. The production of prototypes by hand as well as the use of digital design tools are equally part of the studio’s work.
